Hard to call pink hair a trend when it’s literally never not with us, but it is trending<\/em> again. As in, right now. Everyone from Addison Rae<\/a> to Labubu<\/a> is experimenting with the color that manages to simultaneously signal punk and polish. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tease<\/em> tapped LA-based celebrity hairstylist Bianca Hillier<\/a> to walk us through how she’s helping clients to go pink this summer. Read on for her recommendations including her go-to shades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Tease: Why do you think the appeal of pink hair is so enduring?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bianca Hillier:<\/strong> Fantasy colors used to have a bad reputation for rebellious kids with no eye for high fashion. In 2025, it’s clear that boho and grunge are back in the most chic and elegant way. Pink hair has come a long way and is never a bad idea \u2014 definitely on trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There’s seemingly always an appetite for super bold, all-over pink, but we know that isn’t for everyone. What about the client with commitment issues \u2014 how can they embrace pink?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hillier:<\/strong> For a client who isn\u2019t ready to fully commit to pink, I make a custom pastel pink that is subtle, but still bright and show stopping. It\u2019s a good way to ease into a fantasy color because it fades quite quick and their blonde is back in action. A custom pastel pink is the perfect temporary change and exactly what someone who is on the fence about a big change needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What’s key to getting the base just right for pink?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hillier:<\/strong> The key to getting pinks just right is starting with a blonde canvas. Keep in mind the darker the blonde the more warm the pink will be. If possible it is always best to start with a platinum blonde so the hue of pink is true to the formula. Keeping the hair health is also a massive part of achieving the proper pink, Virtue Labs Colorkick<\/a> in my mixture is a little extra insurance that the hair will stay in tact and that the integrity is not compromised. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proper at home care is a huge factor as to how the hair strands will hold onto the pink color molecules. Prepping the hair prior to color services is always a must and following up after color services is just as important.
